Advent Lectio from Saint Mary by-the-Sea - 2nd Sunday
Justice shall be the band around his waist, and faithfulness a belt upon his hip. The wolf shall be a guest of the lamb, and the leopard shall lie with the kid; the calf and the young lion shall be neighbors, together their young shall rest; the lion shall eat hay like the ox. The baby shall play by the cobra's den, and the child lay his hand on the adder's lair. There shall be no harm or ruin on all my holy mountain; for the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of God, as water covers the sea. Isaiah 11: 5-9
What shimmers in our hearts as we read this passage from Isaiah? How does Isaiah challenge us this Advent to accept God's invitation for peace in a world despearately in need of advocates on behalf of persons who are poor and marginalized?

Ocean of Grace, Tides of Transformation – that is how God moves and works at Saint Mary by-the-Sea Retreat House. Spiritual rejuvenation begins the moment you arrive at this sacred space!
For 108 years, Saint Mary by-the-Sea, a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Philadelphia, has been a place where gathered are able to drink from the well of God's abundant and gracious love. Nourish and enrich your soul with the solitude and peace offered on this holy ground.
My prayer is that God will gift all who journey here to the sea with a spirit of renewal, unity, and reconciliation so that all may be one.
Please enjoy our website, where you will find our 2017 retreat offerings, prayers for your journey, the history of Saint Mary by-the-Sea, and pictures to brighten your spirit!
